and then lost. The Great War revealed to the world the utter madness of modern warfare. The Lost Generation of the war refers not only to the men who never returned, but also to those who survived but were spiritually and mentally wounded forever.

more than 60,000 Canadians died. In total, more than 8.5 million troops lost their lives in the “war to end all wars.” Of course, ironically, a little more than 20 years later, in 1939, the world would again be plunged into a global conflict of even more staggering proportions.
