betweenAugust 5 and November 11, 1918, 48,830 Canadians were killed, wounded or went
missing. Sadly, a Canadian, Private George Price of Saskatchewan of the 28th
(Northwest) Battalion has the distinction of being the last soldier killed in
the Great War. He was felled by a sniper’s

Mons. Today, his body lies in St. Symphorien
Military Cemetery not far from the body of Private J. Parr, the first British
soldier to die in the Great War on August 21, 1914. Between the deaths of these
two men, more than 60,000 Canadians gave their lives in the “war to end
all wars.” |
